So how do dress children in the snow? The fundamental thing is always to dress in warm clothes, so as not to feel cold while being outdoors for many hours, and technical, to let sweat perspire.
To choose the proper clothing for the snow, however, there is a difference depending on whether you have to dress the children for skiing or playing in the snow. Obviously, then, things change even more when it comes to newborns, which are separate matters. We have therefore divided the advice into two parts and in the one dedicated to clothes for children who ski the extra details are specified.

What does it take to go on the snow? Here, if you are going to take the children in the snow in the mountains to play, here are some useful tips on what to buy. And if you are planning to leave for a holiday altogether, following the link you will find the list of the suitcase for the white week.
Windbreaker / Snow Jacket
Whether you want your children to learn to ski or you just want them to play in the snow, the windbreaker is essential. The children’s jacket must keep warm, and be waterproof, and windproof.
Some models also have small zips usually placed on the hips that serve for the temperature without opening the jacket: pay attention to them because they are comfortable!
Fleece Sweaters
The fleeces are comfortable and warm, perfect to put under the ski suit and, in general, to dress the children for a day in the snow. Here you will find some cheap ones, the most comfortable ones for children, however, in my opinion, they are the ones with the zip that open all the way.
Ski Suit Or Ski Pants
The choice between a ski suit or ski pants is also to be made according to the age of the children. To bring small children on the snow (up to 18 months / 2 years) the classic is better, which wraps them all and does not make them feel the cold.
For older children, on the other hand, overalls with suspenders are comfortable. Instead, the classic ski suit, the one to understand that is a single piece, is usually uncomfortable to play with while it can have its usefulness in case children have to ski.
Cap And Gloves
The hat (or cap, if you prefer) is used to keep your head warm when you spend the whole day in the snow, which is essential in order not to feel cold. Among the many models, choose one that covers the ears well, it can be in wool or fleece, also depending on your children’s preferences for fabrics (usually fleece is softer).
Gloves, on the other hand, must be waterproof. For younger children better those in mittens, waterproof and with a warm fleece interior.
Scarf Or Neck Warmer
Scarfs or neck warmer is especially useful when it is very cold or when the children are stationary, perhaps on the ski lifts. Personally, I am very happy with neck warmers, also because the risk of children losing them is lower. Obviously, however, the scarf is also fine if you prefer.
Heavy Socks (Or Thermal Socks)
When the extremities get cold the whole body feels cold! In this case, therefore, the first rule is simple: avoid short cotton socks! 😉 On the market, there are also thermal socks for children that keep them warm. You can find an example by following the link, the ski ones also have reinforcements and cost a little more.
Snow Boots Or Mountain Boots

For the same reason why it is important to choose the right socks for the snow, it is also important for children to wear the classic mountain that allows them to play without getting their feet wet.
An alternative is waterproof hiking boots, which can also be used for trekking in the summer. In any case, bring a pair of shoes and socks to change because in the end, believe me, they will be able to get wet anyway! 😉
Sunglasses
Even if it is not a piece of clothing, remember that it is important to protect the eyes of children in the snow with suitable sunglasses! Even apparently sunless days can annoy the eyes of children who are more sensitive.
