We talk about stress like it’s like the weather: like it just comes over us, but you can do something about it!
Unlike the weather, we can control excessive exposure ourselves. Because stress is created in our own heads and nowhere else.
Just think about it: Stress is not something that falls from the sky, but is almost always self-made. Excessive exertion arises from a series of decisions that we make ourselves, which in turn means that we can actively do something against being overwhelmed.
However, avoiding stress completely is the wrong way, because stress is part of life and can also be understood positively. If you are encouraged and challenged in a positive way and you can accept stress as a challenge, then so-called positive stress provides a drive, because where would we be without challenges?
How Does Stress Arise:

Often it is simple carelessness: at first, you may only accept one task. Then another one comes along. Then your girlfriend asks if you can look after the children at the weekend and your parents announce themselves. Then you remember that you wanted to go to the hairdresser – and hey presto you have a whole mountain of tasks and obligations to deal with and you get stressed.
The reason is you haven’t given enough care.
The key is not to allow that to happen. The external conditions always remain the same: you only have 24 hours a day, seven days a week. You don’t get more than that even if your shoulder works for five.
If you don’t want any more stress, you have to understand that your time and energy are limited resources. So learn to think carefully before every “yes” – no matter how small – whether this “yes” is already the straw that causes the barrel of stress to overflow or not. Only then make your decision. Feel free to take the time-out you need.

A great tip, because where better to switch off than when you forget your own world for two hours because you dive into another?
2. Go Out With Friends And Have A Good Time!
Enjoy yourself! Forget the stress of everyday life for a few hours and switch off! Who can distract better than your best friend?
3. Favorite Music

Turn up your favorite music and dance and/or sing along! It’s really freeing and dancing shakes the inner tension out of your muscles.
4. Get Out!
Get out of the stressful situation, out of your own four walls, out into nature. The green with the extra portion of oxygen also calms you down.
5. Speaking of oxygen
Sounds banal, but it helps: consciously breathe in and out ten times. Preferably deep into the stomach. You can increase the effect if you pull your shoulders up to your ears when you breathe in and let them drop when you breathe out.
…Oh yes – and please don’t wait for quieter times – because unfortunately, they won’t come by themselves!
